Research.Experiment.Implement
“I am more than a nerd, good at math and science, I am passionate about STEM and the world discoveries can create. I can see myself as a researcher one day. I like to experiment, and I am curious about myself and the world around me.”
Global Leadership Living Learning Community
Culture.Citizenship.Leadership
“I like being around people from different backgrounds and nationalities, and I think learning about new cultures is interesting and valuable. I definitely want to study, work, or volunteer abroad at some point while I’m in college, and I may join the International Plan or do a globally focused minor. I’m interested in global sustainability and development issues related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, or peace and justice.”
Grand Challenges Living Learning Community
Lead.Innovate.Collaborate
“I want to make a difference in the world and think that I can contribute to meaningful change. I like to solve problems and want to learn more about how to tackle complex grand challenges. I want more than a typical “classroom” experience. I want to DO something important and LEARN something important in the process. I like working with others, and I’d like to learn to do that better – to really be part of a group where I can contribute and be challenged to my limits. Improving the human condition is important to me and I want to be a part of a team that works on solving a grand challenge.”
The Honors Program Living Learning Community
Curiosity.Creativity.Connection
“I’m interested in a lot of things, including topics outside my major field of study. I like imagining new possibilities—for a start-up, a medical device, a rocket ship, a film script, an application of AI, a musical composition, a lab experiment, a bridge, a solution to a policy problem—and working to make these possibilities real. I love interacting with enthusiastic students and professors inside and outside the classroom. It’s great to live and learn with my fellow Honors Program students from around the world, who are just like me in all these ways and who are different from me in many other ways, with diverse backgrounds, perspectives, majors, and career plans.”
