Once you’ve found a place you like, it has space available, and you know who you’re living with, it’s time to apply, sign the lease, and prepare to move in.
Complete your Rental Application
- Contact property to fill out the rental application
- Pay application/credit check fees if required
- It’s not likely, but you may need the following documentation:
- Photo identification (driver's license, passport)
- Letter of employment and salary verification
- Pay stubs
- Tax returns
- Bank statements
- Name, address, phone number of previous landlords
- Names, addresses and phone numbers of personal and business references
READ YOUR LEASE before you sign it, pay attention to:
- Lease dates - beware of August gap!!
- Late fees, payment method
- Cleaning fee
- Community rules
- Deposit cost
- Occupancy limits
- Prohibited activities
- Cosigners - typically a parent or guarantor, common for student housing
