Georgia Tech is committed to creating a more equitable and accessible housing process for its students. The current housing priority assignment system, which has been in place for the 2024-2025 academic year, prioritizes first-year students, followed by returning second-year students, new transfer students, upper-division undergraduate students, new graduate students, and returning graduate students.
To address these concerns, we will continue to prioritize more and more new students and begin adding priority allocation for under-resourced students. These changes are designed to ensure that housing is more accessible, prioritizing maximum numbers of new students and Pell-recipients, and to provide a fairer distribution of housing resources for all students.
Current Academic Year 2024-2025
Currently, the priority assignment for housing is as follows:
- First-year students
- Returning second year students
- New transfer students up to 300 beds.
- New graduate students up to 220 beds.
Changes for Academic Year 2025-2026
Moving forward, the priority assignment for housing will be as follows:
- First-year students
- Rising second years
- Pell-recipient upper-level undergraduate students
- New transfer students up to 400 beds.
-
New graduate students will have up to 320 beds
Additionally, certain scholarship programs, such as ROTC, which mandate on-campus housing, will continue to receive priority to meet their specific requirements.
Changes for Academic Year 2026-2027
For the 2026-2027 academic year, the priority assignment will be further refined to enhance equity:
- First-year students
- Pell-recipient undergraduate students
- New transfer students up to 400 beds
- New graduate students up to 450 beds
- New students with families up to 100 beds
