Application and Room Selection Process by Classification FAQ

When and how do I apply for housing and select my room for Academic Year 2025-2026?

  • New First-Year Students
    • Apply by June 30, 2025 - Receive randomized self-assign time-ticket 
      • Self-assign begins in July 2025
    • Apply after June 30, 2025 - Assigned a space as available in order of application 
  • (Rising) Second-Year Undergraduate Students
    • Apply by November 18, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. - Receive a self-assign time-ticket based on the number of credit hours accrued at Georgia Tech as a matriculated college student 
      • Self-assign begins in February 2025
    • Apply after November 18, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. - Assigned to the end of the waitlist in order of application
  • Pell-Recipient Upper-level Undergraduate Students
    • Apply by November 18, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. - Receive a self-assign time-ticket based on the number of credit hours accrued at Georgia Tech as a matriculated college student 
      • Self-assign begins in February 2025
    • Apply after November 18, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. - Assigned to the end of the waitlist in order of application
  • All Other Returning Undergraduate Students
    • Apply by November 18, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. – Participate in lottery with other undergraduate students
      • If selected from the lottery - Receive a self-assign time-ticket based on the number of credit hours accrued at Georgia Tech as a matriculated college student 
        • Self-assign begins in February 2025
      • If not selected from the lottery - Assigned to waitlist in accordance with lottery number 
    • Apply after November 18, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. – Assigned to the end of waitlist in order of application
  • New Transfer Students
    • Apply by June 30, 2025 – Participate in lottery with other new transfer students
      • If selected from the lottery, receive a self-assign time-ticket in accordance with lottery number
        • Self-assign begins in July 2025
      • If not selected from the lottery, assigned to waitlist in accordance with lottery number 
    • Apply after June 30, 2025 – Assigned to the end of the waitlist in order of application
  • New Graduate Students  
    • Apply by May 31, 2025 – Participate in lottery with other new graduate students
      • If selected from the lottery, receive a room selection time-ticket in accordance with lottery number
        • Self-assign begins in June 2025
      • If not selected from the lottery, assigned to waitlist in accordance with lottery number 
    • Apply after May 31, 2025 – Assigned to the end of the waitlist in order of application
  • New Family Housing Students
    • Apply by May 31, 2025 – Participate in lottery with other family housing students
      • If selected from the lottery, receive a self-assign time-ticket in accordance with lottery number
        • Self-assign begins in June 2025
      • If not selected from the lottery, assigned to waitlist in accordance with lottery number
    • Apply after May 31, 2025 – Assigned to the end of the waitlist in order of application
  • Returning Graduate and Family Students
    • Apply by November 18, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. – Participate in lottery with other returning residents
      • If selected from the lottery - Receive a self-assign time-ticket based on the number of credit hours accrued at Georgia Tech as a matriculated college student 
        • Self-assign begins in March 2025
      • If not selected from the lottery - Assigned to waitlist in accordance with lottery number 
    • Apply after November 18, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. – Assigned to the end of waitlist in order of application
