Spring Move-Out: What You Need to Know
Spring move-out is approaching, and we want to ensure you have everything you need for a smooth and successful check-out. This article outlines important deadlines, preparation steps, the self check-out process, fees to avoid, and helpful resources for move-out.
Residents are encouraged to begin planning early and to submit any outstanding facilities requests as soon as possible to ensure all issues are addressed before departure.
Move-Out Deadlines
Non-Graduating Residents
All non-graduating residents must be fully moved out of their spring assignment by: Friday, May 8 at 12:00 p.m. (noon)
Please note: Commencement activities begin on Thursday and may include road closures and increased pedestrian traffic that could make moving out more difficult.
Graduating Residents
All graduating residents must be fully moved out by: Sunday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m. (noon)
Early or Late Move-Out
- If you plan to move out earlier than your scheduled appointment, please update your move-out time in My Housing to assist facilities teams with summer preparations.
- If you need to move out after your assigned deadline, you must submit an extension request in the Check-Out Deadlines section of My Housing no later than Friday, April 25.
- Residents approved for an extension will be assessed a $50.00 per night fee beyond their original deadline.
Summer Housing Residents
If you will be living on campus for Summer 2026, you will receive transition and move information in early April.
Preparing for Check-Out
You are responsible for ensuring your room or apartment is clean, empty, and ready for inspection before completing self check-out.
Cleaning Responsibilities
- Follow the cleaning checklist for detailed expectations.
- Roommates must coordinate cleaning of shared spaces and submit the Cleaning Agreement Form by Tuesday, May 5.
- Failure to submit the Cleaning Agreement Form waives your right to appeal charges for damages incurred after inspection.
Trash and Abandoned Items
- All trash must be removed from your space prior to check-out.
- Additional roll-off dumpsters will be available during move-out.
- North Avenue Apartments residents should not use trash chutes and must take trash directly to dumpsters.
- Any items left behind after check-out will be considered abandoned.
Self Check-Out Process
Once all personal belongings are removed from your room, common spaces, bike storage, and laundry rooms, complete the self check-out process:
