Georgia Tech Housing and Residence Life facilitates moves throughout the academic year and during the summer. Move-out for each term differs slightly depending on classification and extenuating circumstances. Housing and Residence Life will communicate all relevant information regarding how to complete your move-out via your official Georgia Tech email. Residents should follow the information they receive as it may differ from their peers. To move out, you will pack your belongings and ensure your space is clean before turning in your keys and checking out. For more details on cleaning expectations and the process for returning your keys and/or completing self-check-out, please visit our move-out webpage.
Fall Move-out
Fall Move-out occurs at the end of the fall semester. Residents who are remaining on campus during institute breaks should complete the Breaks Survey in Roompact to ensure adequate resources remain available. If residents are planning to leave campus for institute breaks, they should follow the Health and Safety Protocols to ensure their rooms remain in proper condition while they are away. Specific details regarding how to complete your fall move-out, if necessary, are sent via email from Housing and Residence Life. Residents who are graduating have until the Sunday after graduation at noon to be completely moved out of their residence space.
Spring Move-out
Spring Move-out for non-transitioning residents occurs at the end of the spring semester. Residents who are graduating have until the Sunday after graduation at noon to be completely moved out of their residence space. Residents not graduating are encouraged to be completely moved out of their space 24 hours after their last final but no later than the deadline of that Friday at noon. Specific details regarding how to complete your spring move-out, if necessary, are sent via email from Housing and Residence Life.
Summer Move-in
Summer Move-out for non-transitioning residents occurs at the end of their early short summer term or at the end of the Georgia Tech full summer term. Residents who are moving out and not returning to on-campus housing in the fall semester are encouraged to be completely moved out of their spaces 24 hours after their last final but no later than the deadline of that Friday at noon.
Residents completing a summer to fall residence hall or bedspace transition should review the How do I transition? article.
This information also applies to residents completing an early move-out or withdrawal. Additional information about the upcoming semester's move-out can be found on our move-out webpage, or by following us on social media @gatechhousing.
